GAA:Ger Rogan has been appointed as the new Derry hurling manager at senior and under-21 level. Rogan was ratified in his new position at tonight's Derry county board meeting with county chairman John Keenan welcoming the appointment.

“We are delighted to have Ger on board as the manager of our senior and under-21 hurlers,” said Keenan of the former Antrim star. “To have a man like Ger who has played in an All-Ireland senior hurling final overseeing our adult hurling teams is a great boost for hurling in the county.

“He also has a fine record in management and having worked with a number of clubs here in Derry he is very familiar with the hurling scene in our county.”

Keenan also praised the work of out-going manager James O’Kane who indicated his intention to stand down from the post some weeks ago.
