British police are continuing to question a man arrested in Northern Ireland in connection with a series of suspected "Real IRA" bomb blasts.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Saturday over the explosions at Birmingham, Ealing and outside the BBC last year. A Scotland Yard spokesman said he was taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody.

A second man (36), also arrested on Saturday under the Terrorism Act 2000, has been released from custody in the North.

Both arrests were made by Police Service of Northern Ireland at the request of the Metropolitan Police's Anti-Terrorist Branch.
