EDINBURGH - Questions remained last night about the circumstances in which a lone woman hillwalker vanished for three weeks in the Scottish Highlands and survived unscathed. Ms Lindsay Kirkman (30), from Bolton, Greater Manchester, was discovered yesterday by hillwalkers in Glen Doll, Angus, about seven miles due south of where she was last seen in mid-October.Police gave no details of how she had survived all that time. One officer said he believed she had lived in a cave, and was "very confused and a bit distressed" when found yesterday. But another said he understood she had a tent and was well equipped for a stay in some of Britain's least accessible mountain terrain. "She may just have chosen to live in some seclusion for a time," the officer said.Tayside and Grampian police said two walkers came across Ms Kirkman in the Corrie Fee area, near Glen Doll. She was taken to a police station where she was seen by a doctor and pronounced fit. "When the time is right, Lindsay will be interviewed by the police to ascertain her movements and whereabouts during her three-week disappearance," a spokesman said.--(PA)
