The Quaker community in the Republic is opening its doors to the wider public today to mark the 350th anniversary of its establishment in Ireland.

Open day events are being held at four meeting houses in Dublin City and Drogheda in an effort to clear up any confusion that may exist about the community's beliefs.

There are approximately 1,500 Quakers in the State.
