Hanoi - The Russian President, Mr Vladimir Putin, has accepted an invitation to visit Vietnam, the foreign ministry said yesterday, confirming a report last week by the Russian news agency ITARTASS.
The confirmation of Mr Putin's visit comes just days after a landmark visit by President Clinton. Since Mr Putin's March election, Moscow has made efforts to revive its ties with Hanoi which took a serious setback when the USSR collapsed in 1991.
