Gardai are today awaiting the results of a post mortem which will be carried out on the body of a man who was found in a shallow grave in Co Wicklow on Christmas Eve.

The body was discovered at Ballydonnell near Red Cross, Co Wicklow, at about 2.30pm on Thursday as gardai continued their investigations into the disappearance of father of three Stephen O'Meara (26) of Rosehill, Wicklow.

He was last seen on August 6th in Wicklow Town.

A man in his 20ss who was arrested on December 21st in connection with the investigation is still in custody in Wicklow Garda station, detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. His period of detention has been extended.
