The Police Service of Northern Ireland has said it is increasingly worried about the safety of two missing teenage girls from Co Antrim.

The 15-year-olds, Michelle Collins and Samantha McDonald, have not been seen for five days. They were last seen on Thursday when detectives believe they stayed at an address in Greenisland.

Samantha is described as five foot, of fair complexion, with light brown curly hair and blue eyes.

Michelle is also five foot and of fair complexion, slim build, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

PSNI spokesman, Mr Davy Thom, said detectives were still attempting to establish the background to the girls' disappearance. He appealed to the public to offer any help they could.

Man killed in rail accident

The Health and Safety Authority and Iarnród Éireann are conducting investigations into the death of an Iarnród Éireann worker following an accident in Co Longford yesterday.

The rail worker, who was 48 and from the Longford area, was felling trees as part of routine line maintenance on the Dublin to Sligo line, when the accident happened. This is believed to be the first fatality in Iarnród Éireann's line maintenance division.
