Jamaican police said they have received two confessions in connection with the death there of Henrik Litske, a Danish man who had been living in Ireland.

Mr Litske was holidaying in Jamaica when his body was found in a river beside his partially submerged car in Frome, Westmoreland, last Wednesday. He had a serious head wound.

A spokesman for the police said that two confessions had now been received and two men were being detained in connection with the killing. He said he expected that charges would be brought in the coming days. A postmortem was being carried out yesterday.

Mr Litske (49) came to Dublin to work at the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin in 1988.
