Belgrade - Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica yesterday nominated Mr Dragisa Pesic, finance minister in the outgoing administration, as prime minister-designate and entrusted him with the job of forming a government.

The old Yugoslav government collapsed last month over Mr Slobodan Milosevic's transfer to the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague. A key priority for the new cabinet will be to draw up plans to revive the Yugoslav federation of Serbia and Montenegro.
