PC World to create 200 jobs in Ireland

A total of 200 jobs are to be created with six new computer stores across the country, it emerged today.

A total of 200 jobs are to be created with six new computer stores across the country, it emerged today.

PC World confirmed outlets employing 100 workers would be built in north and south Dublin by the autumn as part of a €10 million investment.

A smaller store will be built before the end of the year with Carlow, Kilkenny, Sligo or Castlebar the likely location.

Further openings are planned for 2006 in Cork, Tralee, Athlone, Naas/Newbridge, Wexford and Mullingar.

It is hoped a total of 100 jobs will be created at the smaller shops around the country.

Mr Declan Ronayne, PC World commercial director, said the success of the company's Dundalk shop proved pivotal in the nationwide roll-out. "We opened Dundalk in March of last year which was the first move, that was a real test before we rolled out nationwide," he said.
