A full house of 82,300 fans is a expected for the concert by The Police rock band tonight putting it well up there among the biggest concerts ever staged in this country.
The event at Croke Park is officially a sell-out after 400 tickets which were held back until this week sold out yesterday.
The doors open at 5pm and Friction Plane, the band fronted by Sting's son, are due on stage as support at 6pm.
The Police themselves who first reached their zenith in the the charts in the early 1980s are scheduled to start their set at 7.45pm.
Today is expected to be unseasonably warm with highs of 18 degrees in Dublin and it is expected to stay dry for the concert.
It is only the second time that The Police have played a concert in Ireland. They headlined a concert at Leixlip Castle in 1980 when they were supported by an up-and-coming Dublin band called U2.
Fans will get a chance to get more upfront and personal with Police guitarist Andy Summers tomorrow.
He will sign copies of his book of photographs I'll be Watching You - Inside The Police 1980-83 at Hughes & Hughes bookshop on St Stephen's Green on Sunday at 1pm.
