Tonight's selection reveals the manager has kept faith with the same backline that has been criticised in some quarters for leaking too many points in recent games.

With O'Shea delaying his selection until tonight there was an expectation the manager was waiting on the late fitness news of Daniel Bohane or someone like Tommy Griffin to come in and help shore up the defence.

Tom O'Sullivan and Marc Ó Sé both retain their place as corner backs.

In previous games the Kerry defence has been exposed by Cork's Michael Cussen in the Munster final comeback, while Joe Bergin managed to have it much his own way in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

Elsewhere Tommy Walsh is named at inside forward along with Kieren Donaghy in a formidable attack that includes Colm Cooper, who is likely to drop off the front two.
