Olympia wins best Dublin live venue

Monroes of Galway won the big prize at the Imro Live Music Venue of the Year Awards, held in Dublin last night

Monroes of Galway won the big prize at the Imro Live Music Venue of the Year Awards, held in Dublin last night. The popular pub, in Galway’s Dominick Street, was named national live music venue of the year, while the Olympia Theatre was Dublin live music venue of the year, beating four other nominees, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, the O2, the Grand Social in Liffey Street, and the Draíocht Theatre in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

Electric Picnic won the live music festival of the year award, while Live at the Marquee in Cork won best small festival.

Awards were also given for the best venues in each of the four provinces.

The Set Theatre in Kilkenny was the winner in the Rest of Leinster category; the Glor Irish Music Centre, Ennis, Co Clare, was the winner in Munster; McGrory’s, Culdaff, Co Donegal, was the winner in Ulster; and the Róisín Dubh in Galway was the winner in Connacht.
