Christmas jumper wearers to get free Luas journeys

World record attempt coincides with turning on of lights on Dublin’s O’Connell street

People wearing Christmas jumpers will get on the Luas for free today as part of a charity world record attempt on O’Connoll Street in Dublin.

It coincides with the turning on of the Christmas lights at O’Connell Street on Sunday by Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Dhálaigh.

The event in aid of Debra Ireland begins at 3.30pm outside the GPO with street entertainment including Melanie McCabe, Dublin Gospel Choir, the Olympia Panto 'Freezin' with Al Porter and Dustin the Turkey and boyband Hometown.

LAst year the world record waas broken at the same event outside the GPO. On the first year of trying to break the world record in 2011, just 583 suitably attired people gathered under the Spire.
