The number of people employed in the construction sector grew by 2.9 per cent in December, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The monthly employment index increased from 99.6 in December 2004 to 102.5 in December 2005. The annual increase in employment was 3.9 per cent for November 2005.
The figures are based on a survey of businesses with five or more employees.
