The Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland has been called in to launch an investigation into the death yesterday of a teenager in an incident involving a police car.

The 18-year-old was in collision with the police vehicle in the road accident in north Belfast's Antrim Road on Friday night.

He suffered critical injuries and died some hours later in hospital

Police said they believed the accident happened when the youth ran onto the road close to the Waterworks Park.
