The Southern Health Board has advised a Cork school to be on the alert for symptoms of meningitis following the hospitalisation of a 14-year-old pupil with a suspected case, writes Olivia Kelleher.

A spokesperson for the health board said it was currently implementing the appropriate health measures for dealing with a case of suspected meningococcal disease.
