President Mary McAleese is to contact the families of three men killed in a road collision in Co Kerry on Sunday, the parish priest of Duagh told mourners at the funeral Mass of Jason Toolan (18) yesterday.

"She knows the grief and trauma road accidents are bringing," Fr Pat Moore said at the church of St Brigid in Duagh, Co Kerry.

Mr Toolan was the eldest of three children and was on his way to work in a motor accessories store in Tralee at the time of the accident.

Prayers were also said for the two men from Castleisland, Freddie Ryan (31) and Patrick O'Reilly (26), who died when their Mazda 323 collided with Mr Toolan's Vauxhall Astra at 10.40am on Sunday on the N21 about two miles from Castleisland.
