A man has been found shot dead in north Dublin.

It is understood the man, who is in his early 40s, was shot in the driveway of a house at Edenmore Avenue in Coolock at 9am.

Neighbours reported hearing three loud bangs in the area this morning, which may have been shots from a gun.

It is believed the man's attackers lay in wait for the father of four in a garden of the cul-de-sac and that he was attacked after returning from dropping his children to school.
