A Polish door-to-door salesman suffered a fractured skull after he was brutally assaulted in Derry, police said tonight.

A Polish door-to-door salesman suffered a fractured skull after he was brutally assaulted in Derry, police said tonight.

The man, who is in his late 40s, was attacked in the Station Road area of Magherafelt at the weekend.

The PSNI are still trying to establish the exact location of the assault, which left the man with multiple fractures to his skull and face.

A police spokesman said the victim was selling pictures when he was savagely beaten, between 5pm and 8pm on Saturday.
