A man charged with threatening to kill a barman, who was shot twice in a Limerick city pub, has been further remanded in custody.

Mr Wayne Dundon (26), Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, appeared before Judge Tom O'Donnell yesterday at Limerick District Court.

He is also charged with punching two detectives during an interview on December 22nd at Henry Street Garda station in Limerick.

At a court sitting last week, gardaí said it would be alleged that Mr Dundon was involved in a confrontation with Mr Ryan Lee (19), on December 19th at Brannigan's Bar, Mulgrave Street, Limerick.

They said Dundon threatened to kill the barman and made gestures with his hand in the shape of a gun.

Some 24 minutes later, a lone gunman entered the bar and shot Mr Lee twice in the hip and knee.

It was also alleged at last week's court sitting that Mr Dundon had assaulted two detectives and that the events were captured on CCTV footage.

Gardaí applied to Judge O'Donnell to remand Mr Dundon in custody for a further two weeks. He remanded Mr Dundon in continuing custody until January 12th at Limerick District Court.

The court heard that Mr Dundon was also charged with a number of motoring offences.
