A businessman appeared in Kilmainham District Court accused of attempting to defraud the Revenue Commissioners of £3.8 million. Mr Patrick Sharlott (54), of Bothar Ribh, Coolock, Dublin, is charged with conspiracy with Mr Brendan O'Doherty and Mr Brendan Murphy to defraud the Revenue Commissioners of £3,823,716 between January and June 1997.

Judge Gillian Hussey remanded him on continuing bail to May 13th.
