A 44-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the murder of two soldiers in the North and the attempted killings of five others in March last year.

Sappers Patrick Azimkar (21), from London and Mark Quinsey (23) from Birmingham were shot dead in a Real IRA attack outside Massereene Barracks, Antrim, in March.

They were the first soldiers to be murdered in Northern Ireland in 12 years.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the man was arrested in the Toome, Co Antrim this morning.

Two other men have been charged with the murders.
