A senior police official for the industrial district where the factory was
located says that the owner, Adil Moufareh, and his son Abdelali, the plant
manager, are being questioned about poor security at the factory.

Workers and some rescue officials say that some doors were blocked during yesterday's blaze.

The police official at Hay Hassani, the district where the factory was located, says the two men are being questioned but that he has no other details.

Twelve others, including a police officer, were seriously injured in the blaze which began on the ground floor of the factory yesterday morning and quickly engulfed the four-storey building, trapping workers on the upper floors.

Around 100 of the factory's 150 employees were on site when the fire began  and it took more than 100 fire-fighters over three hours to bring it under control, the government said.
