A man (26) is due in court in Co Kerry this afternoon to face charges in connection with a vicious attack on a young woman in the Wicklow mountains on Sunday morning.
The man was arrested yesterday afternoon in Co Kerry. He is to appear at Castleisland District Court this afternoon.
The victim, who is in her 20s, was found in a distressed state on the remote Military Road, Glencree, on Monday morning with injuries to her head and body. She was subjected to an overnight ordeal before managing to alert a passing motorist at around 8.30am.
She had been at a city centre nightclub in Dublin's Harcourt Street on Saturday night, and gardaí are investigating the possibility she got into a blue saloon car that had a Northern Ireland registration plate.
The woman is being treated for her injuries at Tallaght hospital.
