The man who died following a stabbing incident in Wexford town early this morning has been named as Gordon Farrell from Kennedy Park.

A 25-year-old man will appear in Wexford District Court tomorrow morning on assault charges in connection with the incident.

Earlier gardaí were called to a house in the Bernadette Estate at around 2 a.m. and found the 19-year-old Farrell lying on a couch, with what appeared to be stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A man later arrested and questioned at Wexford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
