Man dies in Mullingar collision

A man in his 60s has died and four people injured following a road traffic collision between two cars on the N4 in Co Westmeath…

A man in his 60s has died and four people injured following a road traffic collision between two cars on the N4 in Co Westmeath this afternoon.

The collision happened shortly after 1pm in the townland of Collemore outside Mullingar.

The dead man was the sole occupant of one of the vehicles. A woman aged in her thirties and three boys who were passengers in the second car were injured in the collision.

They were taken to Midland Regional Hospital where their injuries are described as not serious.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
