Man dies in Cork after setting himself alight

A man who set himself alight in a Co Cork solicitors office has died.

A man who set himself alight in a Co Cork solicitors office has died.

Mr John Harnedy (44)  a self-employed steel worker and father of three, entered Wolfe and Company on Market Street in Skibbereen yesterday morning, doused himself with petrol and set himself alight.

Staff witnessed the incident but no one else was hurt.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for severe burns. He died during the night.

It is believed the incident was related to a family matter.
