A 77-year-old man was killed after being struck by two cars outside Burnfoot, Co Donegal, on Monday

A 77-year-old man was killed after being struck by two cars outside Burnfoot, Co Donegal, on Monday. He was named yesterday as Patrick McLaughlin, single, who lived close to the scene of the accident at Tievebane, on the Burnfoot to Buncrana road.

Gardai said the man, who was wearing dark clothing, was crossing the road at 6.10 p.m. when he was struck by the first car.

He was thrown into the air and landed in the path of a car following behind, and was hit a second time. He died instantly.
