A 60-year-old Co Kildare man has been found guilty of raping his sister-in-law from her late childhood into her late teenage years, from 1965 to 1972. He was convicted at the Central Criminal Court after a four-day trial and was remanded on bail by Mr Justice Finnegan for sentence on June 24th. The jury took almost four hours to convict him on 14 charges of raping the now 44-year-old married woman and mother.

The woman told the court the abuse began when she was seven or eight and continued until she was about 17. She said he raped her so many times that she could not remember all the incidents.
