A 45-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in Co Tipperary.
The Garda said in a statement that the man was the driver of a car that went out of control and crashed at Scartana, Ballylooby, Cahir at 2.20pm this afternoon.
No one else was in the car at the time and there were no other vehicles involved.
The man was pronounced dead at the crash scene, the Garda said. He will not be named until all relatives have been informed.
The latest collision brings to seven the number of people killed on Irish roads in the past 48 hours, including three in the North.
In total, 177 people have died this year on roads in the Republic and a further 55 were killed in crashes in Northern Ireland.
Six people have died in on the Republic's roads since the start of the Garda's Operation Lifesaver on Friday.
