Iarnrod Eireann will begin a limited service to Malahide next month when the first 10 new DART cars come into operation.

As with the current Greystones service it will only operate at peak periods until next spring, when all 26 new cars are commissioned and an extra 14 drivers fully trained.

The first 10 cars, delivered by ALSTOM from Barcelona last May, will be fully tested for the Malahide route within two weeks, when six extra drivers will have completed training as well. Another 16 cars from Mitsui in Japan were delivered last week. It will take six months to commission them.
