Arsenal turned on the style as they blitzed Bayer Leverkusen and moved a big step closer to the Champions League quarter-finals with a convincing win.

Robert Pires, who scored in the 1-1 draw in Germany last week, grabbed his 10th goal of the season with a fine solo run and shot after just five minutes.

Thierry Henry then struck his 28th goal of the season as he arrived at the far post to finish off a sweeping move involving Dennis Bergkamp and Sylvain Wiltord two minutes later.

Skipper Patrick Vieira grabbed the third three minutes after the break when he scored with a diving header at the far post following a free-kick from Henry on the right - his second goal in as many games.
