South Korea's Kim Un Yong is the most controversial of the candidates for the most powerful job in world sport - president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
The 70-year-old Kim received a severe warning after a probe into the Salt Lake City scandal that saw six IOC members expelled and four others forced to resign. But none of the three charges levelled against him suggested that he made any personal gain.
Two of the claims concerned his son and daughter and the third was for helping a Russian athlete get medical treatment in the United States.
Kim has always insisted that he did nothing wrong and when the charges were first made against him he wrote to various members refuting the claims.
Despite the charges, he remains one of the most influential members in the IOC.
Kim, who became an IOC member in 1986, has quietly built up a large power base within the movement, especially through his role as president of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAIFS).
President of the World Taekwondo Federation, Kim has been a lifelong politician in South Korea and is currently his country's Ambassador at Large. He was also a member of the South Korean government's delegation at George W. Bush's presidential inauguration in Washington in January. PA
