Tehran - Iran's powerful Guardian Council yesterday released the names of 10 men, Including President Mohammad Khatami, that it has approved as candidates to stand in June 8th presidential elections, the official IRNA news agency said.
Mr Khatami is seen as almost certain to win the polls, but he is seeking a large popular mandate to overcome opposition from the conservative establishment to his programme of reforms.
