An Irishman is seriously ill in a French hospital after falling from a balcony while watching the Monaco Grand Prix at the weekend.
The Kerry man (24) suffered severe head injuries when he reportedly fell 15 feet after climbing scaffolding to view the Formula One racing.
He was taken to hospital in Monte Carlo and later transferred to a hospital in Nice where he was put under the care of neurosurgeons.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said consular assistance is being provided to the man's family.
