Truck driver in 60s killed in Co Monaghan road crash

Tanker lorry veered off the N12 road and crashed through a roadside ditch

A truck driver aged in his 60s was killed in a single vehicle road traffic crash in Co Monaghan on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place on the N12 in Knockaconny, Co Monaghan at about 7.20am.

Gardaí received reports that a tanker lorry had veered off the road and crashed through a roadside ditch. The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a postmortem is due to take place.


Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward, including those who may have dash cam footage.
