Man killed in Galway crash named locally

The man killed in the single vehicle crash in Co Galway has been named locally as 31-year-old David Finnerty.

The crashoccured at about 10.37pm on Tuesday night when the man’s car crashed into a tree at Cloonkeenkerrill, Colemanstown.

He was the only occupant of the car.

Mr Finnerty was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was later removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for a post mortem examination.

The accident happened close to his family home in Cloonkeenkerril.

The road was closed immediately after the crash and Garda forensic collision investigators carried out an examination of the accident scene.
