The cutting of costs for doctors' insurance could show the way for a reduction in the cost of motor insurance, Mr Jim Glennon (FF) suggested.

Ten years ago doctors in general practice had been paying up to £3,500 each for professional indemnity insurance but the same insurance was now available to them at less than half that price. That was a remarkable achievement which had taken place at a time of an absolutely huge explosion in personal injury awards. It was an achievement that had been made by a group of committed people who had decided that the system was not what it should be. There were now twice as many companies operating in the business as there had been a decade ago.
