The family of a man who died when his car plunged into the Grand Canal at Harold's Cross, Dublin, in February, yesterday thanked everybody involved in the rescue attempt. Following an inquest into the death of Mr Dominic Dolan (23) a student, of Ludford Drive, Ballinteer, Co Dublin, barrister Mr Breffni Gordon said he had been asked by the family to thank all those involved in the rescue attempt.

The inquest heard that Mr Dolan's car had gone into the Grand Canal at Parnell Road, Harold's Cross, on the morning of February 4th. Five passengers were rescued but Mr Dolan died later at the Meath Hospital. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death by drowning.
