Equestrian: An inquest will resume today into the death of a talented equestrian rider who was close friends with the Queen's grand-daughter, Zara Phillips.

Sherelle Duke, 28, from Portadown, Northern Ireland, died in August this year at Brockenhurst Park, Hampshire, when she fell from her horse during a competition.

A post-mortem examination found she died from a fractured skull.

Miss Duke was a former World Young Rider champion and won the bronze medal in the World Young Rider event in 1999.

She was a member of the Irish team in the 2003 European Championships and was in training for the next Olympics in Beijing.

Zara, 25, dedicated her gold medal at the recent World Games to Miss Duke. She could not attend her funeral because she was competing in Germany at the time.

The inquest will take place in Southampton.
