Colombo - India and Pakistan yesterday admitted that talks intended to ease tensions had failed, as heavy fighting raged along their disputed Kashmir border. The two countries blamed each other for the failure following three days of talks on the fringes of a South Asian summit in Sri Lanka.

The talks were the first between the leaders since India and Pakistan conducted rival nuclear tests in May.
