Hong Kong has reported that another person has died of SARS in the territory.

An 83-year-old woman who died last week was found to have had Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), health officials told a news conference today.

The latest figure brings the cumulative number of cases in Hong Kong to 1,747 and the death toll from the deadly respiratory disease in the territory to 283.

No new infections were found in the last 24 hours, an improvement from the past few days when there had been three or four new cases per day. It was the 20th straight day that the number of new infections in Hong Kong had been five or less.
