Brian Lara will not take part in the West Indies' tour of India next month after being hospitalised with suspected hepatitis.

Windies team manager Ricky Skerritt confirmed today the legendary batsman would miss the rest of his side's ICC Champions Trophy campaign as he recover from illness.

He said: "Brian has being advised by medical specialists in Colombo that he will miss the West Indies's immediate cricketing commitments.

"That will obviously rule him out of the India tour and I have advised the West Indies selectors that a replacement will be needed for that tour".

Lara was admitted to hospital after complaining of feeling unwell during the Windies victory over Kenya on Tuesday.
