Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has been named the English Professional Football Association's player of the year.

Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas beat Everton's England striker Wayne Rooney to the young player of the year award.

Henry (25) has had an impressive season for double-chasing Arsenal, scoring a landmark 100th goal for the Gunners back in January.

The other nominees were Newcastle's Alan Shearer, Chelsea's Gianfranco Zola, Southampton's James Beattie and Man Utd's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes.
