Britain's Tim Henman was knocked out of the French Open at the second round stage today by Belgium's Xavier Malisse.

Britain's Tim Henman was knocked out of the French Open at the second round stage today by Belgium's Xavier Malisse.

Malisse won 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 in three hours, three minutes and now plays either Albert Portas of Spain or Cecil Mamiit of the United States in the next round.

Defending champion and top seed Jennifer Capriati moved into the third round with a 6-4, 6-3 win over fellow American Amy Frazier in 69 minutes.

Capriati, who defended her Australian Open title in January, next meets the winner of the tie between Angelique Widjaja of Indonesia and Australian Evie Dominikovic.
