Padaig Harrington consolidated his position in the upper echelons of world golf by moving up one place to ninth in the World Rankings announced today.

The move equals the Dubliner's highest ever position in the standings, and this time, it came as a result of his third place in yesterday’s Benson and Hedges International Open.

The event was won by Argentina’s Angel Cabrera at the Belfry and in claiming his second European Tour title he climbed 12 places to 12th in the Rankings, also a career high for the Argentinian.

Darren Clarke remains 14th despite missing the cut last weekend but Paul McGinley dropped three places to 42nd after he too only played two rounds.
