Guilty of £3.4m cannabis charge

A courier has been found guilty by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury of possession of cannabis resin valued at £3

A courier has been found guilty by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury of possession of cannabis resin valued at £3.4 million which was recovered by gardai after a surveillance operation.

Patrick Ralph (36), of Celbridge, Co Kildare, was remanded in custody for sentence on June 15th next. He had pleaded not guilty to possession of cannabis on November 13th, 1997, with intent to sell or supply.

A co-accused, Eugene Kelly (24), of Sheridan Court, Dorset Street, Dublin, was jailed for eight years last February for his role in the operation.

The cannabis was recovered at a house on Pineview Road, Tallaght. It was hidden in potted plants which had been imported from Holland.
