A US military police soldier has been killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack south of Baghdad.

A US military police soldier has been killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack south of Baghdad.

The soldier, whose name was not released, was killed last night 40 miles southof Baghdad.

A statement released by the US army said the MP was killed in the town of Iskandariyah. Thedeath brought to 37 the number of American soldiers who have died in Iraq this month.A total of 151 have been killed since May 1st,when President George Bush declared an end to major combat.

The downing last week of the Chinook and the crash of a Black Hawk helicopter made the first week of November the bloodiest for US forces since May 1st.
