The British and Irish governments are preparing "a major political heave after the European elections, to get the peace process back on track", the Taoiseach said last night, reports Patrick Smyth in Cologne.

Following a late night meeting with the British Prime Minister, Mr Blair, in Cologne, on the fringes of the European summit, Mr Ahern said there was no real possibility of any progress until a few days after the elections.
